shades of yellow

Furthering our exploration of yellow today we experimented with creating different shades of yellow. Some of the children were having difficulty recognising yellow if shown an object that was lighter or darker than the first yellow object. Hence our exploration with a medium we could have some control over.
We added white in small amounts and painted a strip of each shade.
The children used either their hands or a brush to mix the paint.
They decided we had made light yellow, bright yellow and dark yellow.

Hi Room 14

I think it would be really cool to put your hands in yellow paint and swish them all over the page any way you like. I also think that you are very clever making different shades of yellow.
