Lemon and orange juice drink was on the menu today.
Belinda had the children smelling, feeling and tasting the fruit before they juiced it.
All were eager to taste before and after sugar was added. They are just learning to identify sweet and sour tastes.
Every child enjoyed their drink and wanted seconds.
Lots of discussion took place about the colours yellow and orange. Sometimes they can be hard to tell apart, but the children are now getting a clearer idea of shades of colours. Initially they thought a light yellow, for example, could not be yellow as well as a brighter or darker yellow.
Our theme "colours" is proving to be very relevant to our children and providing lots of stimulus for learning.
With Language Experience type activites such as this one with Belinda, the children are practising so many skills at once, in a meaningful and purposeful context.
Thanks, Belinda
